Chapter 50: Nature follows confused feelings through lust and desire; Faint spirit and moved mind meet a demon chief.
In which, alas, Tripitaka listens to Zhu Bajie's advice and it goes downhill.
Welcome to Volume 3, everybody. We only have half our journey in front of us. Our ardous enterprise is almost over, let’s continue.
“But if you leave the circle, you will in all likelihood meet with danger”: Something tells me that he is leaving the circle.
“Only we know what we have done. Who will file charges against me?”: This pig is the most inmoral being I’ve ever seen, someone hit him with a rod, please.
“The old man also carried a twig of winter-plum blossoms in his hand”: Look below.
This chapter was shorter than usual and the adventure was very similar to others we have witnessed. I hope it gets a little bit more exciting in this volume, instead of having the same dynamics - which I’m not entirely complaining about, it is very common in novels like these, because they weren’t meant to be read like a book, but only when fancy stroke and you said let’s read (aloud) another chapter of Sun Wukong’s journey.
I also wish for Zhu Bajie to become a better “person” and for Sha Wujing to have more protagonism. What are your wishes for this volume?
See you in 3 days with chapter 51.
